Anthony's Perception: Malaysian Sign News made available in Facebook

Recently I was informed about this Malaysian Sign News, which can be shortened as MSN which you may go to this website (http://www.facebook.com/mysignews), however, you would have to register for a new account at Facebook. It is a little hassle for those who don't have Facebook account, especially for those who don't have access Internet at home or workplace. It does not have the same privilege with the daily news media, which can be printed on the papers and made available online, such as The Star, Berita Harian and Nanyang Siang Pau and Makkal Ossai, which are in different spoken/written languages.

It is unfortunate to say that our valued Malaysian Sign Language, which I would abbreviate as BIM as it is agreed in the Community, could not be lettered on the papers. However, it makes BIM as a unique language, and BIM has its own linguistics and equal status and have with other spoken languages around the world. You would not be able to use BIM and Malay or English simultaneously in effective way because BIM would become meaningful if it is "assisted" by Malay or English.

As the BIM can be disseminated only through broadcasting, vlogging, or DVD/CD, the Deaf people would have to fork out extra money to purchase electronic instrument or device, such as television, laptop, PC and even iPhone, and many more you know, and also subscribe to broadband Internet services in order to watch broadcast, vlog and DVD/CD. It costs us so much in view of most of us don't receive monthly good pay.

Yet, it is the way we would have to take willingly in order to appreciate BIM on the Internet, which would help to standardize our developing BIM throughout the country. So I would like to congratulate the team who develop the MSN since first week of June 2013. In view of the fact that many Deaf people who don't have the same spirit for the community development, they shall be praised for their great work. The development is still at the first stage, therefore the team incessantly seeks the feedback for the better broadcasting. It would be greatly appreciated if you could give them constructive feedback.
